I know I've said it here before, but I love RDI. It just makes sense to me and it works for our family. But that doesn't mean that we don't still have frustrating moments -- moments when it seems terribly hard to maintain a connection with Oliver -- which is what it is all about, in my opinion. And so I keep this video clip on my desktop and watch it whenever I need a little boost. It is all about emotion-sharing, referencing, initiation and communication: everything we've been working on coming together in the space of two minutes. On a good day, this is how much fun we have remediating autism!
AHHH, I could watch that all day!!

WOW! Christine, that was so awesome to watch! What a fun time and what a beautiful, joyful relationship you and Oliver obviously share. Yeah, ok, there are hard times, too. But the pure joy and love shining in that little guy's face...THAT'S WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.
ReplyDeleteThat was beautiful! Pure joy on all of your faces - and mine!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful film! thank you for sharing this with us. i need to find out more about RDI.
ReplyDeletei wanted to ask you, what is the difference between RDI and floortime? we used floortime for a long time and especially starting out.
ReplyDeleteHi Mom to Max,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked the video. That was taken 8 weeks after we started with an RDI consultant. I wish I had a video to compare our interactions before we started because the difference is amazing! I also wish I could tell you what the difference between RDI and Floortime is but I'm not at all familiar with floortime :-)
Don't know why I hadn't watched this before? What fun! You can't help but laugh after you hear Oliver long enough!!!! He is such a delight.
