Night and Day

Another gorgeous velvet night of sleep. Another beautiful day that begins after a small hint of light brightens the sky. I could get used to this.

The boys took off on a walk to the library with Rachel and I am sitting down to start checking off things from my to-do list. Every now and then I straighten up and peer from my desk out into the street below. A solitary panic grabs me: Where are the children? Breathe, I remind myself. Things are as they should be. They are fine.

Maybe I've held onto my boy too tightly for too long.

It is hard, this business of expansion. Wonderful and freeing but hard. My heart is having growing pains.

  1. I am so glad you are getting sleep! I wish Niksmom and I could too, but if it isn't us, I am very, very glad it's you.

I love almost everything about my iPhone, but it's only flaw is the difficulty of using it to try to comment on blog, and lately I've been doing all my reading in bed in the wee hours of the morning clutching my phone, hoping for a stretch of quiet longer than 30 minutes. In those lonely patches, I've been so very grateful your recent increase in posts. I always love to read your reflections, always enjoy your tone, your calm, always want to follow your example. Especially that velvet sleep thing... that is something I really want to copy!
Be proud of your boys and proud of you... you have conquered many hurdles in 2009.
